This video is all about how to solve quadratic inequalities and is aimed at around grade 7+ GCSE Maths.

1) 2x² – 10x + 10 < 0
2) x² – 7x + 11 < 0
How to solve quadratic inequalities questions appear in all the main examination boards, including Edexcel, AQA and OCR. They are popular and, once you have the basic principles, fairly similar. Please do stop the video, try the question and compare your solution
Top Tips!
- You’ll generally need to factorise the quadratic
- Decide whether it can be done by trial and error, or you need to use the quadratic formula
- Sometimes there’s a clue in the question …. it might ask for ‘integer’ (whole number) values
- Work down the page with the < or > sign in the middle … imagine it’s an equals sign
- Remember that the expression must equal zero, to be able to factorise
- Is your answer reasonable?
- If required, sketch the quadratic to show your answer
