GCSE mathematics enlargement by a negative scale factor questions appear on many exam papers and you can download the questions here.
The main things to remember when working with these types of questions are:
- Always draw the ‘lines of enlargement’ as accurately as possible – they really help to show where the new shape will be
- Work from the centre of enlargement using the x axis and the y axis
- Make sure you clearly label the new shape you have drawn
- Look for the 1 mark questions that ask to quote the scale factor, easy to miss in an exam
